The Photographers’ Gallery celebrated the vibrancy of modern cosmopolitan cities with a one-week display of photographs of London’s Soho district. The gallery was transformed into a working studio and display area for photographs, taken by renowned British filmmaker and artist Mike Figgis.
Well known for experimenting with the creative process, Figgis spent one week prior to the public display intensively photographing in this central London location, and continuing during the week of the exhibition.
The images were produced and printed on-site over the course of the week, in a temporary studio space within the gallery. These photographs were then presented on the wall with Figgis adding and subtracting from the previous day’s display.
