Published by MACK in November 2025, Chien Fou brings together for the first time the writings of Germaine Krull (1897–1985) — avant-garde photographer, activist, and one of the most significant artists of the modern era. The selection spans texts from the 1920s to the 1980s: artistic manifestos, political essays, and memoirs, including her autobiographical manuscript La vie mène la danse. The title — French for "mad dog" — was a nickname given to Krull by a childhood friend for her unruly hair. A self-portrait in words by a woman who photographed across Europe, Asia, and Africa, surviving both World Wars and defying every convention of her time.
