Peter Tomka (b. 1989, Des Moines, Iowa) is an American artist and photographer based in Los Angeles. Working primarily with photography, he develops images through an idiosyncratic analogue process in which digital source material is rephotographed and projected in his darkened apartment, transforming the domestic space into a camera and darkroom. The resulting prints are large-scale, grainy, blurred, and materially complex, emphasising ambiguity, intimacy, and the instability of photographic representation.
