Inspired by the traditional educational purpose of a botanical field journal, Harries’ publication Studio Botanical takes on a similar functional design format, using an appendix to reference Polaroids, complete with personal notes recording the technical details of the exposures taken in the studio. The flowers, 23 varieties in total, shot over the course of 4 sittings, are created with nuances of movement, repetition, or sequence to elevate them from purely representational form to a more controlled and often distorted interpretation.
