The inaugural issue of Unofficial, a new publishing series from Officialzine, edited by Adam Murray and creatively directed by Ben McLaughlin. At its centre is a 38-page portfolio made over a single weekend: a portrait of the Dnipro river and its surrounding landscapes by Ukrainian art director Eugenia Skvarska and British photographer Kalpesh Lathigra. After Russia's destruction of the Kakhovka Dam in 2023, Skvarska — who grew up in Kyiv on the banks of the Dnipro — felt an urgency to document the river. She and Lathigra travelled its length in a Smart car donated by a concrete company, Skvarska guiding, driving, translating, and telling stories along the way. Kalpesh Lathigra is a multiple-award-winning photojournalist who has won a first prize at the World Press Photo competition.
