The 96-page hardcover holds 69 colour plates and a loose insert, with foiled typography and a sakura headband, and was printed in Kyoto. The book began when Fortune Smith found a handful of vintage family photographs at her family home in Japan. As the daughter of an African-American soul singer and a Japanese classical dancer, she has long felt without solid grounding. Here she weaves three generations of family photographs together with haunting, enigmatic moments from everyday life. The result is a melancholy, dreamlike exploration of her roots and of finding a sense of identity rather than a fixed one. It is a beautifully produced, intimate contemporary photobook for collectors of fine art and Japanese photobooks.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Chieska Fortune Smith","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":56483926212993,"sku":null,"price":45.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0603\/7613\/files\/IMG_9941.jpg?v=1794057105","url":"https:\/\/www.clairederouenbooks.com\/products\/untold-voices","provider":"Claire de Rouen","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
