In early 2024, Alexander Kropp began sending a single question, often to complete strangers, through direct messages on his Instagram account @noresearch.today: What's a question you're asking yourself right now? As the replies came in, he started screenshotting and sharing them. This book gathers the answers of 334 contributors from around the world, a record of conversations with strangers, friends, and strangers who became friends along the way.
The design by Christopher Lawson Ltd nods to two of the project's creative ancestors: George Brecht's Fluxus work Water Yam and Brian Eno and Peter Schmidt's Oblique Strategies. Like them, it is made to be used rather than just read. It can be consulted for divination, used to start a conversation, or carried in a pocket for reassurance. Each answer turns out to be another question.
